Ukiyo-e is a genre of Japanese art which flourished from the 17th through 19th centuries.
Ukiyo-e literally means ‘pictures of the floating world’. Its artists produced woodblock prints and paintings during the Edo period (1615 – 1868), depicting and highlighting the beauty in every day scenes, landscapes, flora and fauna.
